TRUTH versus FALSEHOOD
Allah, the Most High, says:
AND MOST OF THEM FOLLOW NOTHING BUT CONJECTURE. BEHOLD! CONJECTURE CAN NEVER BE A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE TRUTH. VERILY, ALLAH HAS FULL KNOWLEDGE OF ALL THAT THEY DO. (Surah Yoonus : verse 36)
The conflict of TRUTH against FALSEHOOD had always existed, and will continue to exist until the Day of Judgement. The wicked and irreligious people always hated those who had invited them towards the TRUTH and will continue to do so.
The King Namrood initially had no enmity and hatred for Prophet Ibraheem (alaihis salaam). The enmity and hatred started only when Prophet Ibraheem (alaihis salaam) began to invite him towards the Truth, ie. the worship of the only ONE Creator, Allah. The Prophet Ibrahim (alaihis salaam) became the King’s arch enemy. He therefore prepared a huge fire to burn and destroy the Prophet Ibraheem (alaihis salaam), but the King was totally unsuccessful.
Similarly, the King Fir'awn had no enmity and hatred for Prophet Moosa (alaihis salaam). In fact, Prophet Moosa (alaihis salaam) was brought up in the lap of Fir'awn from birth to the age of youth. Fir'awn treated Prophet Moosa (alaihis salaam) as his own son. But, when Prophet Moosa (alaihis salaam) invited Fir'awn towards the Truth, the Prophet Moosa (alaihis salaam) became a strong enemy of the King and endeavoured to kill him. But this king was also totally unsuccessful.
Let us now look at the history of our Beloved Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam). Was there any enmity initially between our beloved Prophet and the polytheists of Makkah? None at all. In fact, the polytheists accepted him as the best man in their community. They relied on his loyalty and trust and was famously known throughtout Makkah as "Muhammad Al-Ameen" ie. Muhammad the Trustworthy. But when our Beloved Prophet placed the Truth in front of them, the Prophet became their greatest enemy. They not only stopped calling him "Al-Ameen", but used such words which did not befit the sublime character of Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
Even today, we live in such great harmony with our close relatives and friends. After learning about their un-Islamic and un-Quranic beliefs and practices, we remain silent without a word of guidance to them. Our modernised Muslims say that this is done to keep the "Islamic" Brotherhood. And unfortunately, at times, this is also called wisdom (hikmah) and considered as the "live and let's live" policy in an environment of great tolerance. But when our sincere Ulama speak out against their un-Islamic and un-Quranic beliefs and practices, they start hating such sincere people. Naturally, the Truth is bitter and cannot be swallowed easily.
All the above incidents prove one thing, and that is:
MAN BECOMES AN ENEMY OF ANOTHER MAN WHO TELLS THE TRUTH.
Alas! we have so many false (baatil) movements in the name of the Quran and Islam. Movements like the Shias, Qadianis, Parwezis, Maududis etc, are promoting their anti-Khulafa and anti-Sahaba ideologies which are in complete contradiction to the Quran itself. How can such movements ever be true when Allah Himself praises the Khulafa and Sahabas and commands us to follow them in the following words:
AND THE FIRST AND FOREMOST - OF THOSE WHO WERE THE EMIGRANTS (MUHAJIREEN) AND THE HELPERS (ANSAAR) - AND THOSE WHO FOLLOWED THEM IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, WELL-PLEASED IS ALLAH WITH THEM AND WELL-PLEASED ARE THEY WITH HIM. FOR THEM, HE HAS PREPARED GARDENS UNDER WHICH RIVERS FLOW, TO DWELL THEREIN FOREVER. THIS IS THE SUPREME TRIUMPH.
(Surah At-Tawbah: verse 100)
How then can movements which degrade the Khulafa and the Sahabas ever be successful? Their existence in such minority groups is, in itself, a proof of it being false and unsuccessful.
When Allah Himself orders Muslims to follow the Sahabas, the most honourable of whom are the Four Rightly Guided Caliphs, how then can we blindly follow today's westernised irreligious Muslim "scholars" who promote anti-Khulafa and anti-Sahaba ideologies? Na'oozubillah!
The overwhelming majority of Muslims are true followers of the Khulafa and the Sahabas. These are the real Ahle Sunnah wal Jama'ah. This is, in fact, the real Muslim Community (Jama'ate Muslimeen) which includes all four schools of thought viz. the Hanafee, Shafe'i, Maliki and Hanbali. Whoever turns away from the Muslim Community, Allah warns him in the most severest of words, as follows:
BUT AS FOR HIM WHO, AFTER GUIDANCE HAS BEEN CONVEYED TO HIM, CUTS HIMSELF OFF FROM THE MESSENGER (OF ALLAH) AND FOLLOWS A PATH OTHER THAN THAT OF THE BELIEVERS, WE SHALL LEAVE HIM IN THE PATH HE HAS CHOSEN, AND WILL LAND HIM IN HELL - WHAT AN EVIL REFUGE! (Surah An-Nisaa:Verse 115)
The new brand of Muslims today claim that they are learning their DEEN from the Quran and Sunnah alone, and they are in no need of guidance of the Khulafa and the Sahabas. There is only one reason for such an approach. They are overawed by modernism to such an extent that they find it difficult to present their DEEN in its original form. As a result, they modify the DEEN to pacify the modernists. They are creating their own standards for judging the Truth which, in reality, is far from the Truth. There are many corrupt movements which claim to follow the book of Allah and His Messenger. How do we know that whatever is presented to us is, in fact, correct? What standard do we use to judge this? The only standard lies in recognising the interpretation and understanding of the Quran and Sunnah by our pious predecessors ie. the Khulafa and the Sahabas. This is what was passed on from generation to generation and preserved with the help of Allah. This is what our sincere Ulama (Ulama-e-Haqq) propogate and these are the true leaders of our DEEN. Allah commands us in the following words:
O BELIEVERS! FEAR ALLAH AND BE IN THE COMPANY OF THOSE WHO ARE TRUTHFUL.
(Surah At-Tawbah:Verse 119)
May Allah keep us guided on the Straight Path of the Prophets, the Truthful, the Martyrs and the Pious Ones. May Allah also keep us in the company of the true and sincere Ulama, and safeguard our Imaan from the tentacles of irreligious and irresponsible Muslim "scholars" of today. Ameen!
DR. ALLAMAH IQBAL on WESTERNIZATION
The following are excerpts from the various books of the Poet-Philosopher Dr. Iqbal on the topic of Muslim westernisation. Some of the main books being Tahzib-e-Haazir (Modern Civilisation); Jawed Nama (the Song of Eternity); Pas Che Bayad Kard Ai Aqwam-e-Sharq (What to do then, O Nation of the East).
Iqbal was the foremost among the intellectual critics of the West. It can be emphasized that the modern educated Muslim classes have not produced a greater man of vision than Iqbal. He was the most accomplished thinker of Modern East. He had very clearly understood the inherent weaknesses of Western thought and culture. He realised how disdainfully the western mind dealt with transcendental truths. He felt that its depravity was chiefly the outcome of the uncleanness of the soul. He says:
Civilization of the West is perversion of heart and mind,
Since its soul could not remain unpolluted.
When the soul loses its purity everything goes,
Cleanliness of conscience, loftiness of mind, refinement of taste.
In Iqbal’s view, Western Civilisation is the robber that strikes in broad daylight and leaves man a pauper morally, mentally and spiritually. He says:
Of this civilisation of ungodliness beware!
At war which is with men of Truth.
The mischief-monger nothing but mischief breeds,
In the Harem it re-installs the idols of Laat and Uzza.
By its sorcery the eye of the heart is sightless,
The soul thirsty with its barrenness.
The joy of eagerness it kills in the heart,
Nay, the heart itself it destroys.
Iqbal was convinced that the Western Civilisation cannot save the Islamic World. The West can neither solve the Islamic World’s problems nor can it give the latter a new lease of life. He says:
Even the naked truth they cannot see,
Whose vision servility has blurred.
From the West which itself is at grave’s edge?
Iqbal was very mistrustful of the champions of Modernisation, or rather, of Westernisation in the East. He feared that their progress was merely a pretext for wholesale surrender to Western philosophy of life. He says:
The cry of Modernisation in the East, I fear,
Is but a pretence for imitation of the West.
Although it is difficult to say that Iqbal remained completely unaffected by Western philosophy and education, or that his religious understanding WHOLLY conformed to the Quran and Sunnah, it definitely failed to destroy his Islamic Individuality. He says:
The spell of modern education I broke,
I picked the grain, left the net alone.
God knows how in the manner of (Prophet) Ibrahim,
I sat in its fire easy in mind.
The rate at which UNRIPE ideologies are becoming widespread in the East is also the outcome of the modern craze of giving the dignified name of PHILOSOPHY to every single “brain-wave”. Iqbal has written an illuminating Qit’ah under the title Azaad-e-Fikr. He says:
Freedom of Thought for them is ruinous,
Who do not possess a disciplined mind.
If the mind is immature, freedom of thought
Is the way to make a man a beast.
May Allah guide us all in moulding our lives according to the proper Islamic Culture, unadulterated by any other foreign cultures. Ameen!
Allah, our Creator and Sustainer, says:
O believers! Let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. And whosoever does that, then they are the losers. (Surah Al-Munafiqoon: verse 9)
